Columbia Law Professor, Eben Moglen, said this in a recent interview, of social networking services :
“ In return for a little bit of the product, they assist the growth of these immense commercial spying operations. The commercial spying operations are used to empower people who have lots to get more from people who have less. They lead to a more unequal society. More unequal in economic terms and more unequal in political terms. The users, as with most stuff that’s dangerous that’s sold to people, the users are the victims and even the stuff you write which purports to be critical will do everything except telling people the central fact, which is they have to stop using.”

branding?
Thinking about branding for the family…
I already have dmtaub.com for myself, dtaub.com for this, and mtaub.com (which I’m working on).
Should I get a domain now for the whole family? I feel like it will make me kool to the kids, but I’m probably deluding myself. Maybe pseudonyms will be back in style by that point…
Mostly I just want kids to have emails that are their names, but its not really necessary.. maybe a new TLD will popup that will be cool down the line, anyway….
